French Flashcards
In French as with any foreign language, it is very important to learn new vocabulary. This is a major part of what French students should be working on each and everyday. We have roughly 30 new vocabulary words each week. It is the student's responsibility to study and memorize vocabulary words.
To help students with their goal of learning new vocabulary words, I create sets of flashcards online. Students are more than welcome to create flashcards on their own, but as an added resource there are flashcards posted online.
Quizlet is the website that the flashcards are posted to. Quizlet has smart phone apps that can be downloaded so that the flashcards can be accessed from anywhere. No membership or log-in is required to access vocabulary words and to use them, one is required if they want to "join" the class.
On Quizlet, students can use flashcards, take practice quizzes, and play games with vocabulary.

A little about me
BONJOUR!
Je m'appelle Madame Cook. I am the French teacher at Raymore-Peculiar High School and I have to say that I am really excited for the year to come! I really enjoy getting the opportunity to work with students, it keeps me on my toes for sure. I also love getting to share something that I am so passionate about; the French language but also understanding differences in the world. I believe that by understanding the differences in others, we learn to better understand ourselves and why we feel, think, and do what we do.
I have enjoyed teaching at a college preparatory charter school in Kansas City for the last two years; however, I am very excited to become a Panther!
I started studying French in 8th grade and continued studying throughout high school, college, and beyond. Even starting in high school, the students at Ray-Pec High School will be given the tools necessary to change their lives; to start on the path of becoming bilingual. Learning a foreign language has certainly changed my life and can enrich the life of any student.
A little more about me, I did volunteer work through the Worlds Service Corps on a small island country called New Caledonia. Most people have never heard of that country, and I'll admit that I hadn't heard of it until I was placed there for the summer. The French-speaking country is an overseas territory of France, but they are preparing to vote for independence in 2014. After returning from that experience, I studied at the l'Université d'Angers in France. The University of Angers is located in the Pays de la Loire region of France and is really a beautiful area. I enjoy getting to present the unique cultures, values, beliefs, and products of a variety of French speaking countries. French is spoken on all 7 continents in the world.
I am looking forward to working with you and/or your student this year. Feel free to email me if you have any questions, comments, or concerns at anytime during the coming year.
Merci et au revoir,
Madame Angela Cook
